The first detection of West Nile virus in a mosquito pool in Harris County this year has been confirmed in June 2019. Harris County Public Health reminds you to protect yourself and your loved ones this summer by following these simple steps:
- Reduce mosquito breeding sites outside your home by emptying or removing any containers holding stagnant water.
- Use an EPA-registered insect repellent when outdoors.
- If possible, wear light-colored, long-sleeve shirts, pants and socks.
