Travel Notices and Advisories

Prior to traveling, it is advised to be aware of travel restrictions placed on both the current location and the traveler's destination. Restrictions may differ based on the county, state, and country.

For the latest updates on travel notices, warnings, and alerts, please refer to the following resources:

Domestic Travel

When traveling within the United States, it is important that individuals be aware of any travel restrictions currently in place within the destination state and/or county. This is because restrictions may differ across state boundaries or even on a county/city basis. In addition to limitations on travel, it is recommended that those traveling be familiar with the reopening status of industries and facilities in these areas as they may impact planned trips.

Please refer to the CDC FAQ on Domestic Travel for further information, including questions regarding traveling to campgrounds. Additional Considerations for Travelers be found here.

More information about reopening guidelines within Harris County can be found in the Reopening Guidelines and Documents resources.

International Travel

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that travelers avoid all nonessential international travel because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many countries are implementing measures to help slow the spread as well as prevent their own health care systems from becoming overwhelmed. These measures may differ by region and often include travel restrictions, mandatory quarantines, prohibiting non-citizens from entry, etc. Please refer to the CDC's FAQ About International Travel for further information.

In addition to the FAQ resources, the CDC has created a web map intended to show COVID-19 Travel Recommendations by Country that may be useful.

For individuals returning from international travel within the past 14 days, refer to the CDC's guidelines - including steps to monitor your health and practice social distancing.

Air Travel Updates

It is important to stay up-to-date on any regulations for traveling by airplane during the COVID-19 pandemic. More information can be found at the Texas Department of State Health Services' COVID-19 webpage as well as the CDC FAQ on Air or Cruise Travel resources.
