This integrated program addresses tobacco use and asthma control to improve respiratory health outcomes in Harris County. The tobacco prevention and cessation program delivers evidence-based education through schools, inpatient centers, community sites, and after-school programs using curricula such as CATCH My Breath and the American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking. Participants are also connected to additional support services such as the Texas Tobacco Quitline and other local partners to reinforce quitting efforts. The asthma control component provides self-management education for all ages using American Lung Association curricula, including Open Airways, Kickin’ Asthma, Breathe Well, Live Well, and Asthma Basics to equip residents with the skills and support needed to better manage asthma and reduce related health complications.
