The Substance Use Surveillance Team conducts surveillance and analyzes data on fatal and non-fatal overdoses in Harris County to determine trends and drug types causing overdoses and deaths. The team works closely with the HCPH Community Health and Wellness Division's (CHWD) Substance Use Prevention Team to develop reports for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) partners to assist them with targeting substance use interventions. The team also maintains a substance use data hub.
