The State of Health - Nine Houston/Harris County health organizations have joined together to determine the most pertinent health indicators, and gathered and organized these measures into a format that we hope will be both interesting and informative.
Health of Houston Survey (HHS) - The HHS provides communities in Harris County with data about the health of people living in the Houston area.
Houston Area Survey (HAS) - The annual Kinder Institute HAS measures the Houston region’s economic and demographic transformations and records how area residents respond to them.
United States Census – Fact Finder - The American FactFinder tool provides access to data about the United States, Puerto Rico and the Island Areas. The data in the American FactFinder come from several censuses and surveys.
American Community Survey (ACS) - The ACS is an ongoing survey that provides yearly information about age, sex, race/ethnicity, income, disabilities, and more.
Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) - The BRFSS is a survey that collects state data about U.S. residents regarding their health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions, and use of preventive services.
Texas Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (TX-BRFSS) - The TX BRFSS is a federally funded telephone survey conducted on a monthly basis of randomly selected adult Texas residents that collects data on lifestyle risk factors contributing to the leading causes of death and chronic diseases.
Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) - The TX DSHS Center for Health Statistics provides a variety of health related data resources including, but not limited to, data on: vital statistics, cancer, sexually transmitted diseases, hospital discharges, and more.
