On August 30th and 31st, 2022, Harris County Public Health hosted its first ever Violence Prevention Conference, which brought together elected officials, local leaders, various violence prevention groups from around the U.S., and some of the industry's best professionals and practitioners.
At the conference, participants identified the root causes of violence with evidence-based policy and public health approaches to inform and influence future policies, programs, and systems to build a culture to protect vulnerable communities. In addition, participants learned best practices in implementing and evaluating sustainable prevention programs to respond to violence and victims.
