Qualify for WIC
To qualify for WIC, the following must be met:

1. Be at nutritional risk. WIC clients receive an initial health screening at a WIC center to determine nutritional risk.

2. Reside in Texas. WIC clients usually receive services in the county where they reside. U.S. citizenship is not a requirement for eligibility.

3. Must be in one of the following categories:

  • Pregnant Women
  • Women who had a baby within the past 6 months
  • Breastfeeding Women
  • Infants
  • Children Younger than 5

4. Meet required income guidelines (see chart below). Households with incomes up to 185% of the federal poverty line are eligible.

Applicants who receive Medicaid, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), SNAP or Food Stamps can automatically qualify for WIC services.
